Call Me Liz

As a Licensed Professional Counselor I empower individuals and couples to create the relationships they desire.

Like many of you, I find the roles I fill within my own family (wife, mother, daughter, in-law, and sister) to be challenging. The family I grew up in didn’t solve problems. We shouted about them, ignored them, ignored each other, and then repeated these patterns over and over again under different circumstances. I was actually relieved when my parents eventually divorced, because I was hopeful that our home life would be happier. Changing the living situations didn’t change our interaction patterns. Seemingly simple disagreements escalated quickly, we ended up saying hurtful things which we later regretted. I can tell you, from experience, this is no way to live.

Your closest relationships should lift you up, by helping you aspire to be your best self. They should not be a source of distress and anxiety. In my work as a psychotherapist, working with individuals, couples and their families, I help others change their interaction patterns, while teaching them to communicate respectfully with themselves and one another. Using research based therapies and interventions, individuals, couples, and families can learn to discuss their feelings and express their needs so that everyone gains perspective. They gain skills that help them navigate family dynamics, family and parenting issues, and clarify what their priorities are. The individuals, couples, and families who come to my practice increase their emotional intelligence, learning to repair past relationship fissures or betrayals, and find ways to enjoy themselves and their families again. In the end, all parties can form stronger relationship bonds that will continue to help them grow and change.

I earned my BA in Psychology from Rutgers University and my MA in Counseling Psychology from Immaculata University. I’m currently an Adjunct Professor at Berkeley College and completed my Level 1 Gottman Training as a Couples Counselor. I know that we are all imperfect beings. I’ve found the best relationships are the ones where two imperfect beings come together to form a relationship that can be perfect for them. Let me use my training to help empower and coach you to change your communication and conflict patterns so that you can have more peaceful, fun, and satisfying relationships.  Get started now with Inspired Talk Therapy.
